Author and International Airline Pilot, Erin Murphy, stands with my granddaughter, Liz Eppleman, as she tells us about her latest picture book entitled, Halfway Home, A Rescue Dog’s Sky-high Journey to Acceptance. Erin advocates for SPCA air-rescue services and gives back through her book sales. We bought her colorful, inspirational books for my granddaughters, Julia and Violet, and one for me, too. Then we carried on with “international airline” talk reminiscent of my Pan Am Days with Bernie, My Pilot. As we left the store, Liz said our meeting was serendipitous, that perhaps her Grandpa, Bernie, had a hand in it, and I agreed. Heartfelt memories are gifts Bernie likes to send me, gifts that keep on giving.
